A new report by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman highlights the deficiencies in care for hospital patients at the end of their lives.
A report today by the National Ombudsman has yet again highlighted the deficiencies in care for hospital patients at the end of their lives .
There is no need to re-iterate the findings:
- not recognizing patients are dying,
- not controlling symptoms properly – especially pain,
- failing to explain to patients and their families what is happening,
- not having an adequate out of hours service.
None of this is new.
PATCH is focused unashamedly on supporting hospital care as there is so much to be done.
