Welcome to our new Chairwoman

The PATCH Board is delighted to welcome Catriona Miller, a partner in Thorntons Law.

Thorntons have been involved with PATCH from the very beginning – in fact before the beginning of our present charity. They were instrumental in the establishment of the Acute Palliative care Unit [APCU]  in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, which became the inspiration for our present-day PATCH, and they have generously given of their time, support and advice for the last 14 years.

Catriona is a member of the specialist private client team in Edinburgh and has 25 years’ experience in drafting wills, administering Trusts and executries.

She grew up in East Lothian and her family includes many distinguished doctors. Catriona completed her legal degrees at Aberdeen University and has a long-standing interest in supporting charities, including St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh and has been active in the charity wills campaign which raised £500,000 over the years.

Replacing Sir Michael was never going to be easy but when we approached Catriona, after very strong recommendation, her enthusiasm and willingness to develop the work achieved during our first seven years was obvious. Her strengths in governance and fundraising are outstanding and especially relevant in this difficult time for charities.

We are unanimously thrilled that Catriona has taken on this challenge!
